Tara is an NYC based actor, singer, & VO artist, a Chicago Native, and a dual-citizen of Ireland. (More importantly, a Gemini Sun, Taurus Moon, Capricorn Rising.)

She holds a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch and continues her acting studies with Ellie Heyman, musical theater studies Denis Lambert, and on-camera with Heidi Marshall. Tara is also a member of The Story Pirates, performing live and voicing characters on their award-winning podcast

Most recently, Tara starred in a national commercial for Dave & Buster’s, shot her first feature film role opposite Melissa Leo, and returned to musicals in an exciting reimagining of Sweeney Todd. Stay tuned on her latest projects.

Tara wrote, produced, and starred in the solo show The Boys I Loved in Catholic School, a serio-comedic cabaret reflecting on the 12 boys she crushed on throughout her adolescence. To brag: the GM of New York’s historic Duplex called it “one of the greatest cabaret debuts [he] ever witnessed”.

She hopes to play roles on stage like Yelena in Uncle Vanya, Harper in Angels in America, The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, and Maureen in Rent. On screen, she dreams of playing the daughter of Julianne Moore and originating a role on a beloved TV drama loosely based on a Shakespeare play (cough- Successioncore- cough). She especially thrives in mediums with dramatic heightened language and hopes to bring those talents to Shakespearean stages and Marvel movie sets alike.

In her spare time, you can find Tara analyzing her daily horoscope, learning the latest K-pop choreography, or collecting passport stamps (most recent explorations of Egypt and Jordan highlighted @tarahalpern!)
